Veterinarians will no longer be allowed to perform tail docking and ear cropping on cats and dogs, as well as cattle and horses, for cosmetic or breeding purposes. However, if there are valid reasons such as injuries, cancer or infections, surgery may be justified.

Tail docking and tail docking do not improve the health or behavior of animals. In dogs, some breeds even have their tails docked in their first weeks of life. Others have their ears cropped between 9 and 12 weeks. Their ears are then taped for a while so that they can heal and stand up. Cosmetic surgeries hinder communication between dogs.
