History and origins

From the family of molossers and first appearing in the Orient with the Sumerian molossus, the origins of the French bulldog are uncertain! It would seem that it is the result of a cross between an English bulldog and a ratter which appeared in the 19th century.

Its history is rather mysterious. The French claim that it is a native type of dog, but the English maintain that it descends from the bulldog. Basically, the bulldog had a dual purpose: ratter and guard. At the beginning of the 20th century it was found among the nobles, the rich and even in royal courts, but also on the "fortifs", where it was the bodyguard of prostitutes and bad boys.

Today, the French bulldog has become a small dog that is very common everywhere.

However, it is important to give him enough exercise in order to keep his muscles healthy, and this, because of his morphology.

An ideal apartment dog

Sensitive to the moods of his master, he appreciates the company and comfort of a warm home. The French bulldog is an ideal apartment dog because of his short hair, his moderate bark and his ability to adapt to various situations with intelligence and intuition. Which makes him an excellent indoor companion.

The temperament of the French bulldog is very gentle and pleasant, and this is with the whole family, from children to seniors. And since it is of a city nature and does not need much exercise, it is quite suitable for older people.
