The Cats

Interview

A clean and well-brushed coat, cleaned eyes and ears, trimmed claws... cats need regular little care to be beautiful. This also contributes to their well-being. Accustomed from a young age to being handled, these moments will strengthen the bonds that unite the cat to its owner and will make the latter's task much easier.

Food

Since cats eat a single diet day after day, it must be balanced and of good quality, starting in the first months of the animal's life. Quality food will have an impact on the health of animals throughout their lives. It will help prevent certain health problems that can sometimes be serious.

A good food should contain adequate amounts of quality protein, antioxidants, and should have a good digestibility rate. Formulas that meet the criteria of the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) are certified as balanced and well-balanced.

For the first months of life, it is recommended to divide the animal's diet into three meals a day, to slowly move towards 2 meals a day (between 6 and 12 months). It is important to avoid automatic dispensers and not to leave food at will! On the other hand, it is important to always offer fresh water at will. Kittens should move on to adult food around 6-9 months.

For customers who have several animals, it would be wise to get into the habit of feeding each one in their own bowl, separately, or even in separate rooms. This allows for good monitoring of each one's appetite. In addition, if one day an animal requires specialized food, it will be possible to give this food only to the animal concerned. It is recommended to measure the amount of food given to the cat at each meal and always give a little less than the amount suggested on the bag. This amount is often exaggerated or calculated for a very active and athletic animal, which is rarely the case.

Tips and Advice

  • Your cat likes his habits, feed him in the same place and at the same time
  • Choose a quiet place, away from where you eat your meals.
  • Have him eat on an easy-to-clean surface (linoleum or carpet)
  • Place his bowl away from the litter box
  • If you have two cats, keep their bowls away from each other to avoid fights.
  • Give him fresh water in a metal or ceramic bowl. Drinking promotes the proper functioning of his kidneys and reduces the risk of urinary diseases.
  • Offer fresh water, not milk. Most weaned kittens lose their ability to digest lactose.
